Worried about a mole/mark

My 12 year old has what looks like a dull red mole suddenly appear. It’s flat against the skin and isn’t causing her pain or itching. It almost looks as if a raised mole was cut off the top of it, if that explains its appearance better, like a wound but she insists she hasn’t caught it. I’m most concerned because she told me she had something similar last year but it faded, it has left a skin coloured mark that looks similar to a chicken pox scar. She didn’t tell me about it so I had no idea at the time. I will be keeping an eye on it and will take her to the gp if I feel it’s necessary, but can anyone reassure me this is normal for her age, and not something I should automatically assume is the C word.

Could it be an angioma? It's a benign overgrowth of blood vessels. One of mine had one it was harmless and scraped off at the dermatology clinic. It is always nest to get these things checked out though.

Thanks for replying, I did consider it to be but they are very red in comparison, this one is darker like a healing scab although it isn’t raised and doesn’t feel different to the rest of her skin so I wasn’t sure if it would count as one.

My dds was dark brown, was worried sick it was a melanoma, which is why we went to the gps. We were then referred to the dermatology clinic who diagnosed and dealt with it all in the same appointment, which was a relief. Im sure it will be fine, but as mums we do worry about them. Pleae get it checked if you are worried.
