Opinions on crystal healing?

Recently my DS (8 years old) has been complaining of a sore tummy. I gave him some Calpol hoping it would go away, however it's still bothering him. I took him to the GP a few days ago and they assured me he would be fine but he has mentioned the pain again today.

After doing some research, I found an article about crystal healing, using different rocks to cure the body. It recommended me to infuse quartz in hot water and give it to him to drink before bed. I'm not sure I'm entirely convinced by this, but I have nothing left to do to help him. Do you think I should try this and would it make him better?

Don't do this, crystals can have all sorts of cracks and crevices that you have no idea what they could contain

Is he anxious? Maybe go for a walk, and see what he talks to you about. Let him lead the conversation. The DC just seen to naturally talk about their lives as they are wandering along.

Dear lord no. Has he had a poo recently? Is he hydrated? Is he otherwise fit and well?

DanseAvecLesLoups · 10/01/2023 17:54

Wooooooooooooooooo

NewBootsAndRanty · 10/01/2023 17:55

Good grief.

It's a load of bollocks

Squamata · 10/01/2023 17:57

Anybody can put anything on the internet.

Try camomile tea, or peppermint tea. He probably just needs a big poo. Herbal tea will hydrate and make him feel cared for.

I'm not against alternative healing methods, but I only turn to them to supplement conventional treatment. Right now I think you should investigate more what's wrong. What kind of pain and exactly where? Is he eating ok? Constipated? Any other symptoms? Check that out and if it persists go back to your GP.

Reported.

I was asking a genuine question as I too was skeptical of this advice. If you want to report that's okay but I did not intend this post to try and convince people to use crystal healing.

This post was not intended to promote crystal healing but I was seeking advice from other mums on what to believe!

The words ‘after doing some research’ have never been followed by anything of sense.

DON’T do this.

I was hesitant to trust the article. He feels better now, and we didn't use the crystals in the end.

If you want to do some research, first get an MSc qualification at least in a relevant science. then use GoogleScholar or PubMed which search proper databases of scientific articles.

using google is not research. Sorry.

Jesus Christ, what a load of BOLLOCKS, and dangerous at that.

MumUndone · 10/01/2023 19:15

You have nothing left to do to help him, other than give him some rock-flavoured water? Confused

barelyfunctional · 10/01/2023 19:19

Interesting, I live in a town where a lot of people are very into crystals, homeopathy, etc and I’ve never come across the idea of actually consuming the crystals!
