Chicken pox

Hi All

My 15 month old is on day 3 of chicken pox ( we first noticed the spots on Friday.) She is so unwell - a temperature of 39.8, spots everywhere and it looks as though she won't swallow as she's just letting dribble run out of her mouth and her breath smells. We've done the following already

  • Calpol & Piriton
  • PoxClin mousse
  • Oat baths

I was just wondering if anyone had any other suggestions of how to relieve her discomfort as she can't sleep and is so upset.

Also is this normal or should I be calling the GP? She's my first so I have nothing to compare it too

Thanks in advance

Sorry no real advice as you are doing all the right things but are you 100% it is CP and not scarlet fever or one of the many other nasties doing the rounds? (Sorry if that sounds stupid but there is so much out there and quite early in the year for CP).

My 3 daughters had them back in september i used head and shoulders as a bubble bath and that really helped my girls with the itch.

Not able to give medical advice but personal experience. I had chicken pox as an adult and it was incredibly mild because I was taking L-lysine, an amino acid that's very good against the chicken pox virus family. However I did already have it in my system before the spots came out.

If she is dribbling , so finding it hard to swallow
I would take her to A&E
