Hello,

Has anyone's child taken this drug for severe constipation? Interesting to hear people's experiences.

Not for constipation but to empty the intestines prior to a colonoscopy yes. Took a few hours to work, was uncomfortable and he didn't want to be more than a few paces from the toilet once it started working. But it may be that your child will be on a lower dose.

Many thanks, she's 5. It's got to be better then tube feeding laxatives, the next step.

She still in nappies so in for a messy day...

I give 1-2.5 ml to my 4 yo daily and he still only goes once a week . He has severe withholding problems. He refuses all the movicol /laxido and this is what the continence team have put him on now. How much do you give OP ?

Yes. DS had a serious issue with withholding at one point and he had to be treated with Picolax to clear out a blockage before we could begin with normal laxatives. We gave him one dose and it didn't do anything, so we gave a second dose and again nothing happened, but when he went to bed and relaxed, well it wasn't pretty, but he was wearing a pull-up and there was a bed mat on his bed - thank goodness! I really recommend that you prepare similarly as the results can be pretty explosive.

She's had 8mls. Not really a withholding issue, her nerves don't link up with messages from the brain. Little control over bowels.

Second dose soon 🤞
