Help - anyone else seen chicken pox this bad?

My son came out in chicken pox on Monday (5 days ago) and he has just got progressively worse.
I called 111 yesterday who sent an ambulance. We were in a&e in an isolated room for around 5 hours. He had a high heart rate and temp. After 5 hours they discharged him and said that his spots aren't infected so take him home and bring him back if after 7 days he hasn't improved.
I'm so stressed, worried.
Looking for reassurance- has anyone else's child had chicken pox like this and healed ok??
He is covered like this over his tummy too

Thank you so much for checking in on him- he is doing ok but still completely covered. He is having oat baths, sorry forgot to mention that in original post- he has those regularly due to eczema so a part of our normal routine 😊
Some of the scabs are falling off leaving red marks and slight dents so I'm covering him in sea moss gel (I've researched and it speeds up the healing process naturally and generates collagen production)
I'm just hoping this helps him heal faster as I can't bare seeing him in pain. He asks for "cuggles" then cries because it hurts when we touch him. It's just awful!!!

Has your DS had his immunisation vaccines?

GinghamWorld · 11/01/2023 20:56

Oh poor little one. Some reassurance that mine was the same (6months old at the time), it was really scary looking (I had no idea it could be this bad!) and just a few weeks later there was not a mark on her!

serenghetti2011 · 12/01/2023 21:44

We don’t routinely immunise against chicken pox in this country you can pay for it though. I didn’t get any of my 4 done as it wasn’t a thing when they were small but I think I would now if they hadn’t had it

Aberteifi · 13/01/2023 08:43

My eldest son had it that bad even on palms of his hands and soles of his feet it was really horrible.
I found piriton helped with the itching and he has no scars thankfully

crumpet · 13/01/2023 08:46

Poor thing. Keep going with things like the porridge baths - they really seemed to soothe dd’s itching. She had them several times a day at one point.

D’s had chicken pox at just a few weeks old. Has one scar on his foot and one near his ear.

Poor boy, my son has it really bad when he was 2. There was barely a pin prick space between them and GP said he had never seen such a bad case.
He is now 21 and no scars from them.

indigo277 · 16/01/2023 19:33

All spots have scabbed and the scabs have fallen off leaving lots of like marks/dips in his skin- are these likely to fade or are they going to stay. He looks awful bless him 😔

TheMightyOak · 17/01/2023 00:23

I'm pretty sure they'll fade a lot. My kids had quite bad chicken pox and they only have one or two (hardly noticeable) scars now.

Valhalla17 · 17/01/2023 00:43

He's so young OP, so any marks you see now will fade. Please don't worry. You're doing all the right things to help him and his body heal. Flowers

purpledalmation · 17/01/2023 11:07

You do tend to get the odd spot that causes a small scar but most clear up.

indigo277 · 21/01/2023 06:33

Thank you everyone.
They are fading but he still has darker like dents that look like they're doing to scar. Did anyone whose child had bad chicken pox take a while to fade away? And it did it look like it was going to scar but then faded?? X

It can take a while. My son had it, not as bad as yours but took about a month x

indigo277 · 21/01/2023 13:12

He is healing up well and the difference in a week is unreal. The scabs have mostly fallen off now but has left these- Do you think these will fade? Anyone else's children had marks like this and they've faded? X

DD’s back was like that. I only have a picture pre scabbing but you get the idea. There’s nothing there now.

mishmased · 21/01/2023 15:26

@indigo277 they will fade in time, you won't even notice. So sorry your baby had it so bad.

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 21/01/2023 21:39

The marks do fade.

monkeyted · 22/01/2023 16:00

DD had chicken pox similar to this earlier this year, just under 2 years old. The scars were the same - so many white patches, lots that were sunken like little craters. For months I thought she’d be scarred for life as they were so noticeable. However now, coming up for a year on, most are gone and those that you can still see you have to look close to find.

Blixem · 23/01/2023 08:33

DD was covered and they left tiny marks which have faded over time. 18 months later you can see a couple on her tummy and 1 on her neck, but I think they are noticeable to me as I know they are there.
