My son 12 has been complaining about sore balls for about two weeks now. I just put it down to a pulled muscle or the way he’s been lying. The past few days he says the pains worse. He won’t let anyone look. This morning he says there is a red lump and stuff coming out of it. His dads away up to try and get a look. This has put a new look on things as I’m thinking somethings infected. What should I do? I’m thinking phone 101 or whatever the number is.

GP. Only go via 111 if you can't get an appointment.

I'd call 111 or take him to A&E

A&E for a spot on his goolies? FFS.

He’s saying nothing is coming out of them now. He’s refusing to show them to us. Hes complaining of the pain. I gave him calpol. He put sudocrem on it. I’m off work on Wednesday, will try and get a doctors appointment then.

No I wouldn’t go to a and e. Not unless he was doubled up in pain.

A&E!!! This happened to DS1 in March, he wasn't doubled over screaming but was walking a bit gingerly and it was swollen and a bit red. If it wasn't for the matron at his (all boys) school who I texted asking if he should come to school the next day, I never would have realised how serious it could be.

Turned out it was a testicular torsion and we had a narrow window of time (like, hours) to save the testicle. He was rushed straight into surgery once triaged.

Xiaoxiong · Today 11:10
thank you for your comment. That must have been worrying. I’ll phone out of hours now and see what they say. Thanks

I agree that you need urgent medical advice. Don't wait until Wednesday!

On it now thanks all

I think he needs an examination really, if not you or another adult really needs to have a look. Try and explain that it's okay to show you and it's for his sake! What colour is the fluid? If his scrotum is swollen it could be fluid of the testicles hydrocele (click here). My sons have had testicle issues and as awkward as it can be to have a look up close it's for the best. I hope you got on okay with 111 however I work for them and know they are taking 80-100% more calls than the system of ever designed for. Its sadly well above capacity
