Hi
Was wondering if starting gymnastics now is ok? For pre schooler.
Or better to wait until September?

When I was a kid I remember joining extracurricular activities int he middle of the year (but I was around 10) and realising that wasn't very convenient. But maybe at younger age that is ok?

Your child will be assessed and put in a group with children of her ability. It’s not a time served type of activity where they move on after a period of time

Preschool gymnastics is basically expensive playgroup. We go, and DD loves it, but there is very little by way of gymnastics training in the traditional sense, more children getting used to equipment, how to jump and land safely etc. So starting mid year is totally normal and not an issue at all.

My kids have been going to a local gymnastics group since they were walking (between 10 and 12 months). The walking to 3 year olds group is just a fun play session where the kids get used to playing on and using the bars, beams, crash mats etc.. with the odd exercise given by the coach to give the kids something to focus on.

The class up from that is the preschool class. My eldest has been in it for the last year and it's far more structured. I leave her there for 45 minutes where they do circuits and practice using the equipment. She has learnt to swing on the bars, to forward and back roles, balance on the beams etc... They work towards getting their badges just like swimming classes.
She loves it and it wears her out which is a bonus ☺️
