Swelling in feet

4 year old has been complaining of his feet hurting, took his socks off and both feet are quite swollen. He's not letting us touch them and he won't walk. He's not inured them as far as we know and it seemed to come on quite suddenly.

We have given him some calpol and he's stopped screaming at least but not sure what it could be. Anyone any ideas?

Have you googled "swollen feet children"? I would call 111 straight away

BlueDuckBlue · 26/12/2022 17:24

Has the swelling just come on?

Is he well in himself ? Very thirsty or not passing urine ?

I'd also call 111 for advice .

How is he in himself? What has his diet been like the last couple of days? Has it been high in salt? Are they new socks?
Does he have a swollen abdomen?

He's complained off tummy pains last couple of days and other than that nothing out of the ordinary - maybe a bit more tired than usual. Drinking normally and peeing normally. He's eaten normal last few days too.

Thanks everyone

I really want to dip a urine for protein. At least call 111.

At 4 years old I'd be straight to childrens A&E for this. It could be blood clots or something very urgent. Hope they're ok Op

Absolutely needs seeing.

Namenic · 27/12/2022 07:35

Personally I would want him seen by a doc today - it could be fine, but it could be something serious (that could be detected by an examination and simple tests).

How is s/he OP?
