Any opticians around

We heard today that our dd's eyesight has got suddenly much worse. They have recorded her VA as 6/30. Is there anyone around that can explain this to me. Am panicking as that seems awful. She had a lazy eye and has worn glasses since 3. Bizarrely her actual prescription has reduced.

Think it means that what your dd can see at 6m a person with normal eyesight can see at 30m.

What is her prescription?

Look into myopia control. Great results!

Unfortunately dementedpixie is wrong.

The 6 means the chart was at a 6m distance and the 30 is the lowest line she was able to read.

search snellen vision chart on Google images and look specifically at the ones that have numbers at the side reading 6/
without knowing what her previous visual acuity is or if she has any underlying eye conditions it’s hard to gage or advise on what’s going on.

From what I googled what I said was correct:

If you have 6/30 (20/100) vision, it means that you must be as close as 6 metres (20 feet) to see what a person with normal vision can see at 30 metres (100 feet)
