When to go back to gp?

Last Tuesday my son (3) started coughing and it sounded very croup-ish. He'd never had it before so I took him to the GP who said it was, but chest was all clear so should clear up on its own.

Thursday son was still coughing but a different sort of cough and had got a lot worse in himself, temp, etc. Went back to the doctor's who's said it was a chest infection and prescribed 7 days antibiotics.

Saturday son was coughing so hard he was vomiting throughout the day, then became unable to catch his breath, briefly stopped breathing, taken to hospital.

Improved dramatically in hospital, said his chest was clear, temp gone, everything looking good. Just continue with the antibiotics and he should be fine.

Next few days he was still coughing but recovering slowly, finished antibiotics yesterday, until today he seems right back a square one. Honking croup sounding cough, sleepy all day, napping constantly.

What now? Does it sound like he needs to be seen again or normal croup/infection/whatever recovery?

I’d get him seen again. He might need another course of anti biotics.

Thank you he's woken up with temp of 39.5 so definitely going to call the docs again today

Yes I would get him checked again

How is he OP?

He's still not good. Christmas barely happened. I took him to be checked on the 23rd and again yesterday. Aside from high fever and high heart rate (probably due to fever) they can't find anything wrong. He's now sleeping from 4 in the afternoon through to 10/11 in the morning - asleep as I type this.

I'm going to keep taking him back to the doctor every 2-3 days, i get that they can't really do much and that might seem time waisty but at the same I can't sit at home and let him suffer without doing anything at all.
