DS has had a full on cold this last week really snotty, congested and coughing. No fever throughout.
No sore throat and fine in himself.
Saw his tongue this morning and I'm worried it's strawberry tongue?
What do you think?

Anyone?

Yes possibly.

User963 · 22/12/2022 09:41

Not really clear from those photos. Does he have a rash at all? Can you look in his throat and roof of mouth for red petechiae?

behappy1736 · 23/12/2022 06:26

No rash, and no petechiae.
I just don't know what to look out for and it's making me so worried.

Looks like a normal tongue to me!

Thank you, I've not ever taken this much notice of what a kids normal tongue should look like 🙈

I wouldn’t say it looks like a normal tongue. If you look at your own it won’t have those dots on it. My son had a tongue like this and none of the rest of us did. The GP prescribed antibiotics just by looking at a photo. He didn’t have a temperature or any obvious rash and just had a bit of a sore throat and tiredness.

TrianglePlayer · 23/12/2022 06:31

Just seen newer photo. It’s definitely got the strawberry look to it.

behappy1736 · 23/12/2022 07:22

Here it is this morning. No rash, no fever.
Can you have strep throat and no rash or fever? Would they still give antibiotics?

It's looks like my tongue before I have a drink! I don't have strep lol.

Sameshitdifferentdayx · 23/12/2022 07:29

It's not a normal tongue imo.
My son had this tongue a couple weeks back. Complained of a sore throat all of twice in one day.. no rash, temp etc. But exacrly the same tongue as your son. Because he wasn't ill within himself I monitored him and it went within a couple of days. And that's how I know it wasn't a normal tongue for my DS.. It possibly could of been SF/SA whatever one it blaaddy is but, if it was, thankfully it was mild and cleared itself up x

Ansumpasty · 23/12/2022 07:31

That’s a normal tongue

User963 · 23/12/2022 07:41

It looks like my tongue. All tongues have those spots but in strawberry tongue they are raised.

User963 · 23/12/2022 07:44

When dS had scarlet fever the tongue came after the rash.

MarshaBradyo · 23/12/2022 07:44

Looks ok to me but also no rash or fever is another indication

TimmyMeatballs · 23/12/2022 07:47

A strawberry tongue is red with swollen papillae. That is a picture of a normal tongue, as far as I can see. Have a Google and look at the images, I think you’ll see they don’t look like this.

behappy1736 · 23/12/2022 23:21

Sent pics to the GP and he said it doesn't look like strawberry tongue at all, and seeing as DS fine in himself then it's more likely a viral cold he's got.
