Formula milk advice

My baby is five months old, fully breastfed apart from the first week when he had the odd SMA formula because I wasn’t producing enough milk for first few days.

He has only been fully breastfed up until now because personally I find it easier. Trouble is I don’t express a lot for bottles, I have to start a day or so in advance if I need to. Most of the time I will breastfeed in public or in the car so it’s never been a problem , but the times when it’s not possible I’ve tried the Aptamil ready bottles from suggestion and advice and my baby just throws it all back up two hours later.
Health visitor and doctors have not been helpful they just say it’s normal. To me I think it’s reflux but being breastfed mostly I haven’t really explored much as I haven’t needed to. But to me on those occasions it looks like the whole bottle has come back up so doesn’t feel normal. Which I have said to them and I haven’t had any advice in return.

I’m burping him in between loads and taking breaks with these few feeds, he’s sat up and kept sat up for those two hours after. All I can think of is the teat is too slow and causing air bubbles (wouldn’t I notice?) and the milks just not suitable. I’ve brought him cow and gate reflux milk to try as I’m going back to work in a couple months ( he’ll still be breastfed morning and evenings ) that’s all I can think would help . Is there anything I’m doing wrong, like specific teat, milk or what ?

I feel horrible if I go back to work and he’s just going to be ill from me being away. It really wears him out when he is sick as it is a lot, and he can sometimes still be getting the last bit up ( more water than anything) an hour after his first sick has come up.
It will usually come in stages of

  • The most sick two hours after feed. over clothes, himself, sofa etc
  • Half an hour after that I’ll think he’s ok, so bathe him, clean him up , burp him more. For watery sick to come up, not as much as before
  • Another twenty minutes after that he last remaining bits of sick ( more water than anything and more like spit up )

any advice is appreciated. Also he’s fine on purées
