So question - do you reckon the calpol vapour plug ins help a cough as well as stuffy nose?? Or do you reckon they actually make cough worse? Advice for a very snotty/bunged but also coughing baby!

I don't think they do anything to be honest, but we still use the blue nightlight in the hall 5 years later!

I feel like they make such a strong smell that maybe they make my baby cough more, I don't know! Just wondered if anybody found them useful at all for a cough

I remember using one when DD was little, had an awful cold, bunged up etc.
was breastfeeding her in the room with the plug-in & it ended up triggering my asthma! Never used them again.

When I had a tickly cough a few weeks ago, it kept triggering a coughing fit whenever I got up in the night to feed my son.

However it doesn't seem to have any effect on his cough.

Try the calpol cough syrup, my two love it and can be used from 3 months!

Mycatisalwaysangry · 15/12/2022 19:24

It was the only thing that helped my child not cough until he vomited every night

It’s a miracle worker on my child and prevents her coughing, but I do resent the cost!!

B and m used to sell
the refills cheaply. I don’t buy them anymore but they may still do.

Amazing for sniffles.
For a cough I can't say I've really noticed so I'm inclined to say it doesn't affect it. I don't really use them anymore, they're so costly. I use a cool mist humidifier now and it helps sniffles and coughs! Xx

Thanks for the replies! Doesn't seem to be making his cough worse which is good and I find they definitely help with bunged up noses! I just find them so strong and they make me cough! But seem to be fine for the baby, how strange! And I agree about the price, terrible really for what it is!

I always found snufflebabe the best for unblocking noses.

It actually works out cheaper to get a vaporiser and put a few drops of oblas oil in it. A clear nasal passage should help reduce coughing.
