Be warned, it will be quite lengthy but I need to rant!!
So roughly 6 weeks ago my 2 year old ended up getting a terrible cough (week 1) and was sent home from nursery. She was off a week and was prescribed antibiotics and an inhaler. Her oxygen levels were very low. She finally started to pick up and I sent her back to nursery (week 2).
During week 2 nursery sent my daughter home again and told me she had a temperature and was coughing really bad. So that day I took her straight to the GP and the GP told me she was fine her chest was clear and she didn't have a temperature. She still had a cough but it didn't require any attention and that it would linger for a while because ALL kids have it at the minute. So she went back to nursery.
Week 3 and she was finally perking right up but still had this stupid persistent cough. It got that bad one night she threw up everywhere and it was all phlegm. I took her back to the doctors and was again reassured that everything was OK and that she just had a cold and by the time this ends another one comes along because its that time of year and all kids have it. Gp told me to use cough syrup and calpol. I ended up buying a cool mist air thingy and it seems to help with her cough.
Week 4 and by this point the doctors must be fed up of me. I got her in again because her cough was still persistent and sounded chesty. I was told she had asthma and she needed to take her inhaler every night for 5 weeks and that she also has scarlett fever and tonsilitus and told she needed penicillin immediately and to take for 12 days. Obviously I panicked with what's happening and was told not to panic she was fine. Just to start them keep her off nursery 24hours and then she should be fine to go back. She did a full week and was starting to really get better. Great I thought.
Week 5 she started reacting to the penicillin. Rash around the mouth, eyes, nose and bottom of her back. Then she was violently sick and it was bright pink. I was told it was a reaction to the penicillin and to stop it. So I did. Just so happened to be over the weekend. Saturday she was fine. Sunday she was fine. Monday she was a little whingey and seemed to go down a bit. So again, back to the GP. Was told she was fine and wasn't anything wrong and it was up to me if I wanted to carry on with the antibiotics and they prescribed me some other rather than penicillin. So I decided if I don't have to give her them I won't.
Now today she's been sent home from nursery again. High temp and sickness. I've checked her temp and it's 36.8. She's off it and her cough is ridiculous again. I've rang the GP and I've got to ring back tomorrow. I'm at my wits end. I've seen 6 different doctors and I'm no better off with what's wrong with my daughter. Paediatricians don't give a to55 and won't give me the time of day. The health visitor hasn't been in contact since she was 8 months. And 111 are just as useless as my GP. And not only that, nursery still require payment and I have no other form of childcare and a full time job that doesn't pay when you're off. So 1300 a month and in 6 weeks she's done 1 full week and the rest has been broken weeks. And 1 full week off. 😪😪
If you made it this far. Give yourself a shiny!
Rant over! Any advice would be great.
