Hi all,
This is a real long shot but I’m trying to find someone else in the UK that has possibly been through the same thing as me….
I gave birth to a beautiful healthy baby boy in February via emergency section. We were sent home later the following day and were in our new family bubble. Later on in the week I noticed my little one was really lethargic and suffering with constipation which was all put down to him being jaundice.
At 7 days old I took him to out of hours as he didn’t want to feed and was still suffering with constipation. He was originally diagnosed with Sepsis then later bronchiolitis. However his condition was worsening and he was blue lighted to the Heath hospital in Cardiff. There we were informed he had Cardiomyopathy (a severe heart condition). We were then blue lighted to Bristol Children’s hospital where we found out the cardiomyopathy was actually caused by Enterovirus (coxsackie B) and we lost him at 12 days old.
We have since been informed he was likely to have caught this within 24 hours of being born (we were only at the hospital at this time and due to covid regulations had no visitors)
Not only has it been totally heartbreaking for us. I am so frustrated that this seems to be so rare and I can’t find anyone else in the UK who even has a clue of what I’m talking about. I have found 2 families in Australia and one in South Africa who have very similar stories but I just wish I could get more answers.
Please get in touch if anyone has anymore information x
