Just trying to gain some knowledge, if a child has scarlet fever what comes first?
The sore throat and fever and then the Scarlett fever symptoms?

I think it’s the sore throat etc and within 48 hours the rash on their cheeks . Not sure when then strawberry tongue usually appears ! X

it kind of depends on the child. Usually sore throat and temp that won’t respond to Calpol. But my other child had it a few years ago and vomited for 24 hours (I initially thought it a tummy bug). No sore throat but did have a temp. Then in the second 24 hour period, a rash appeared along with the strawberry tongue.

Mine had the white coating on the tongue for about 3 days before the fever. No rash.

Mine was grizzly, then vomited, then temperature, then tongue and rash.

First sign was the rash plus tiredness/grumpiness. Then noticed fever.

With my DD it was: Slight sore throat and raised temperature, fatigue/unwell feeling, rash (over about 24-36 hours). We then got antibiotics and it cleared up really quickly, I believe the strawberry tongue comes at a later stage. I'd say the big thing is to keep an eye out for the rash, this was the thing for us that was completely different from her having a bit of a cold/something viral. As it happened scarlet fever was doing the rounds in her school just before Easter and the school had let us know, so when she got it we were aware of the symptoms.
