Hi..
my daughter has come home from school with a painful , hot to the touch and swollen earlobe. No ear ache or any other symptoms .

Will call the doctors in the morning if it hasn't improved . Anyone have any ideas what it could be . Is it a sign of anything concerning that needs attention sooner ?

Does she have her ears pierced???

sickofturkey · 07/12/2022 18:54

She has them pierced 3 years ago but took them out soon after . The holes healed a few years back

Could be an infection from another part of the ear affecting the lobe maybe.
Has she bashed it or hit it at all today at school? Had anything thrown at her? Just thinking injury.

How old is she? She hasn't tried re piercing it?

Very often old piercing holes get a build up in them. Give it a gentle squeeze and see if a little worm comes out. Not an act worm obviously. I know mine need squeezing when they go hot and swollen.

Mine occasionally do this it's old piercing holes that get gunk in them.

I had this on one of my ear lobes about 2 weeks ago OP, no ears pierced, so wasn’t that for me. I did have what I presume was a chest infection though (didn’t go to drs for meds, just tolerated it so took a longer time to get better) ear lobe randomly got red, swollen and hot one afternoon, was gone by the next day.
