6yo crusty nose

DS has a really crusty nose, there's no other way to describe it. He's had a cold, then tonsillitis and then hand foot and mouth all in the last month so has had a snotty/sniffly nose for ages. He's been wiping, blowing and picking (ugh) his nose constantly lately and has developed a rather sore looking scab at the edge of his nostril.

What can I do to help it clear up? I've encouraged him to stop picking and touching it but he's 6 so that's not likely to happen. I've tried cleaning it gently tonight just with water and cotton buds, and I was going to put a warm wash cloth on it again in the morning (and probably once he gets home from school then before bed). Would a little vaseline help?

Just leave it to dry out.

We use vasline.

Also find bloody expensive kleenex baslm tissues really work to prevent it.

wash with flannel & warm water mornings and evenings and a little vaseline or coconut oil (whatever you have in the house).
it should hopefully clear up soon.

Thank you! I'll try that and see if it gets better in a few days.
