Chickenpox exposure and the vaccine

Hi mumsnetters!

My son has come down with chickenpox this morning and i have my vaccine booked in for my daughter this afternoon. Hearing mixed messages about it potentially reducing side effects/stopping it or not working at all now she has been exposed. Anyone on here been in this situation where they had the sibling vaccinated after they had been exposed? Interested to hear if it's worth taking her xx

I'd call a health care professional

Thanks Warrior, just did that and again, got mixed messages. I guess it's worth trying even if it reduces her symptoms. Thanks for the response at least.

I think if they’re giving you a mixed response then maybe think about where he may have picked it up from and if she could have got it from the same place.
I think I remember them saying to me that it takes up to 4 weeks for them to be protected by the vaccination so she could still get it from your son in that time too. I found the pharmacist administering the vaccination quite unhelpful when I had questions about anything to do with it.
