Worried about baby (small head)

Our baby (7months) i has been really big from birth. She’s in the 90% percentile for length and was under weight but has since caught up.

her head size was around 25% (small but nothing to worry about) for ages and we didn’t measure it very much but we just did it now and the app said she was >3%

ive never seen sub normal reading before and since it’s the head it’s got me a bit worried. She’s happy and healthy and everything but how worried should I be about this?

Have you measured it yourself or was it a HV who did it? I would speak with a HV / GP and see what they say.

I don't think you should be worried at all tbh.
But speak with a GP/HV if you're concerned x

I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.

But call your HV and ask for them to take a full set of measurements. They'll refer you somewhere if they're concerned

Thanks…rather embarrassingly I think we just measured wrong 😅

All mine had heads on the 25th centile and the boys were all 85+ for length.

It's just the way our family is made.

The only disadvantage is once they start walking they don't have the normal large baby head so people look at them and put a few years on them.

I found I was constantly having to explain why my two year old wasn't at school.

I remember at the age of 8 being asked what I was studying at university. I think head to body ratio has a lot to do with being thought older that your years.

My ds was monitored for a small (and dropping centiles) head. The conclusion was that he was a small head and probably the first measurement was inaccurate, which meant it looked like he'd dropped hugely. They're really difficult to do accurately.

Hi all! We are currently going through the same issue. Our DD was measured in the 30th percentile at one well check and has dropped to the 12th percentile at 4 month well check. How has everything been turning out for your LOs? Anyone else having these issues?
