Hi / Help!!!!!

Just off on holiday with our 2.5 yo DD and she has 4 spots ok her forehead. Look like insect bites. Popped up over a couple of days. Otherwise all healthy. No other rashes or fever.

Now panicking its chicken pox!!! Anyone got any experience with this?

Thanks to all of you!!!!!

When my dd had chicken pox she started off in the morning with 3 on her chest. By the end of the day she had about 15 more and they were all forming little blisters. By the next morning she was near enough covered in them.

How long has your dd had these for?

BenHolland · 21/11/2022 12:33

Hi! 3 days ago she got the first. Looks like a mossie bite. And now up to 4 all around her forehead. No others.

i’m hoping something random bit her maybe? Or i didnt clean her sheet enough? Or the cold weather?

basically anything but the pox!

My eldest DS only had several on his legs, didn't have pox bad at all.
My middle DS flared up and was completely covered in the first 3 days of spots showing/forming. I'd say by day 3 you'd expect to see a few more than 4 on the forehead if it's pox but I could be completely wrong there.
Are you flying? You mentioned on holiday?

BenHolland · 21/11/2022 12:40

Yep flying! Last holiday DD had tonsillitis. Starting to think holidays may be more stress than its worth!

Oh no! What a mare.

Do they look fluid filled? They're not itching her at all?

BenHolland · 21/11/2022 12:48

No not fluid filled and not itching.

Once my daughter's spots started, they were popping up over the course of an hour or so, not days. If she is well and only has 4 spots then I wouldn't be thinking any more about it!

BenHolland · 21/11/2022 12:51

Forehead close up!!!!

When are you flying? I'd be inclined to say it doesn't sound like pox, because its been 3 days already.Although one of mine had pox bad and the other didn't, they still both suffered with slightly raised temps and itchiness on the spots. So I wouldn't worry for now if I was you.

Thanks for all the reassurance!

Will update when we land. Fingers crossed!

DD had this when we went on holiday last summer. We weren't sure if it was CP or heat rash, but got some CP gel just in case. By the next morning we were clear that it wasn't a heat rash. Sad She was covered in pox.

How are you travelling? The issue for us was the latter part of the disease, when the DC is fine in themselves but contagious. We had to keep finding places to take her where other people weren't about. You have to avoid taking them into motorway services, cafes etc. on the way home too. Fingers crossed that it's 4 random spots.

Look up Molluscum contagiosum.
It's hard to tell from the photos which one they resemble more. Just keep an eye for more in the next couple of days

BenHolland · 21/11/2022 18:27

Molluscum what?! #breathingintoapaperbag

Update. Holiday started. DD has no more spots yet and is as happy as she normally is on holiday. Which is not. But nothing out of the ordinary!

I need a glass of wine. Will let you know if we end up testing the health insurance tomorrow!

Update! The spots cleared up a couple of days later. Apart from a nasty heat rash the holiday was relatively uneventful health wise. DD is happy to be home though!

@BenHolland Glad you managed a illness free holiday and that they cleared up quite sharpish! Hope you all had a good time.
