Kidney cyst in 12 year old

My 12 year old daughter just had a routine US scan for recurrent UTI-s.
They incidentally found a small cyst on her left kidney, the sonographer said it’s common in adults but not so much in children, but didn’t say much else.
I will get in touch with the GP asap to discuss the results, but in the meantime, I’m obviously beside myself with worry.
Has anyone had a similar example with their DC and what was the outcome?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I think they are pretty harmless - most people don't know they have one until they have a scan. Only in certain cases (such as if they're causing pain or there's multiple of them) do they act on them.

My dd has one, they said it’s harmless and doesn’t need follow up. Wouldn’t have noticed it if she hadn’t had a scan for something else. Was found 2 years ago and no further problems at all.

She was about 9 or 10 I think. It hasn’t worried me cos they were so unconcerned!!
