8-week-old congested for over a month

I really need help working out what's wrong with my boy 🙁

The doctors say it's normal / he'll grow out of it, etc. but I don't think they're right, and I think he does have an issue that needs treating - especially when he's so congested that his nostrils flare and he has trouble feeding.

He's 8 weeks old and he's had this snotty nose for over a month now.

It seemed to get better for two days, and I thought it was finally gone, but then it came back just the same.

I don't think a virus would last this long.

He's been on omeprazole for over a week now to see if it's reflux related - no change.

I use saline drops and a bulb aspirator to help him breathe before feeds, but that's a short term fix.

I've had him in the bathroom while I'm showering to inspire inhale the steam, no change.

I've bought a humidifier, no change.

I cut out dairy for two weeks, no change.

I've now bought a mould testing kit and an ultrasonic device that kills dust mites 🤷🏻‍♀️

Don't know what else to do.

@TheBerry have you seen another GP for a second opinion? He doesn’t have anything up there, does he that could be causing an infection? I would definitely seek a second opinion

Op look up laryngomalica. My baby was diagnosed at 10 weeks. And sounded exactly like yours, I was constantly fobbed off with it’s a virus for over 6 weeks until I said I wasn’t leaving without being admitted to the childrens ward for observation.

@Jaybird43 the health worker and my GP both said normal, but it doesn't seem normal. I'm going to go back on Monday and ask about it again.

@2020newbie does that cause a snotty nose, though? His nose is always running and full of snot that we have to suction out sometimes.

In our case he sounded snotty and like there was phlegm needing cleared and we were using the snuffle babe suction which was clearing his snot and helping a tiny amount. Do keep pushing for another opinion, mums know their babies best.
