Spot on 7 year olds foot

Anybody have a clue what this spot can be? Drs have give him some steroid cream (phone appointment so they didn't look at it personally).

He says it hurts him.

Yeah, looks like a verruca.

It's weird how I've sent this to the dr and they said they can't tell what it is so they've just give him some steroid cream. He's on the cream until Thursday, should I wait it out or buy some over the counter stuff?

Just want it to stop bothering him tbh
