Hi there

My 2 year old son has been diagnosed with pectus carinatum today. He is being referred to a paediatrician for further tests, scans and observations. Just checking in here to see if anyone has any advice on what treatment they may offer a 2 year old or if you have been through this with your child already.

Hi @LoveRainbow02 just randomly saw this post. Im sorry i have not much experience. My daughter is 8 and they generally brace during puberty. Not sure if anything different for very young children as the bones are still moving and growing.

Theres a facebook group which is good pectus carinatum/pigeon chest support group for parents. Its most US parents talking about insurance but there are us uk parents too. As far as i know only 7 nhs trusts cover the bracing as its seen as cosmetic. I will have to go private.

Hope this helps.

Hi @mogtheexcellent, thanks for your reply 😊. I am still waiting on ds letter coming in for his referral to the paediatrician for more tests and scans. I didn't know there was only some trusts that cover the treatment so will be interesting to see if mines is one of them.

Ds chest is quite prominent already so it's worrying me how it will grow with him.
