White bumps nappy rash - help!

Baby has come up in a nappy rash that's just getting worse. It was red at first, now it's less red but lots of little white bumps around anus. Doesn't seem painful, I think. But looks pretty bad. Could it be a yeast infection maybe... we won't have time to see GP before it gets worse I reckon. Can I get a cream over the counter that would treat a yeast infection? Can it do harm if this isn't actually a yeast infection? I'm using weleda nappy cream right now

With DS, when that happens, it’s usually almost healed. So he gets red, which develops into red spots.

When the white heads develop, it dries the next day and he’s pretty much healed.

Use yellow Metanium, that works really well for nappy rash.

Thank you so much, I'll get the metanium today and try that! I hope you're right and it's actually getting better. It doesn't look better in terms of the bumps but at least it's not bright red

You can ask a pharmacist for advice, or your HV.

Seconding @Glitteratitar - metanium is magic (apply a very, very thin layer, almost so it turns into powder).

There are two types of nappy cream - those that are barriers to protect against nappy rash (weleda, sudocrem everyday, metanium everyday), and those that treat it (sudocrem, metanium etc). It's good to have both types on hand. You've got this!

Thank you both. Will ask HV and pharmacist too
