Sunken soft spot ?

Afternoon all!

My 3 month old is just getting over a nasty bout of bronchiolitis and is 70% back to his normal self; smiling, babbling, no temp :)

However today I have noticed that his soft spot at the front of his head appears to have sunken in slightly. Not too bad, but it’s a noticeable dent when you’re looking at the top of his head.

Ive had a look on google and the only thing that’s flagging up is dehydration, which I’m sure is not the case - he’s back to drinking 3-5oz of his bottles 6 times a day, loads of wet nappies, tears when he cries, drooling a lot etc etc.

Could there be another reason for a sunken soft spot? Could it just be that he’s getting over his illness etc? Is it worth an appointment with the GP once triage opens tomorrow?

Thanks x

Id ring and check is he having at least 24 to 32 oz a day it does normalIy mean dehydration and as he's been ill it could not have caught up yet. I wouldn't wait until tomorrow

Hi @jannier - Hes only had 3 bottles today so far, two lots of 4oz and one 5 - so 13oz in total. Will have 3 more bottles before bed so will be a maximum of 15oz (5oz per bottle) but normally manages between 3 or 4oz as he’s still quite congested. I’ll presume he’ll get 25oz+ as a total by bedtime.

GP triage is closed now and receptionist wasn’t listening when I asked to get a call back from a doctor so I might give 111 a ring now.

Thank you!
