How long till disimpaction 'works'?

My DS has encopresis and with it being half term he's on his first disimpaction using movicol.

We are on day 3 and so far he's has 14 sachets altogether but still no sign!

How long does it usually take to start?

Ds2 took 38...
Sorry!

Depends how long they've been impacted, some kids can take several months.

38! Jesus
I was thinking it could be any time soon.
He managed a tiny little bit on the toilet yesterday but no sign of loose at all.

The regime she's given us is only for a week, each day he has to take more sachets. Tomorrow he takes 12 in one day.

I'm guessing there is a chance he can't go straight back to school after this week?

Following with interest - we are doing a first time disimpaction too. Half term started last week here so we are already on day 4 of max movicol sachets (max is 8 in DSs case as he's only four). No major breakthrough yet!

are you giving him enough water alongside it? I don't send my son when disimpacting he can't be far from the toilet.

Well the thread worked because he's just been!
He's 6 and I've not seen one like that since he was a baby. Proper poonami 🙈
We are using pull ups because he has lost the sensation to go.

Interestingly he went right after drinking a whole water bottle of juice. Its hard because he's not a big drinker at all. I'm going to struggle to get 12 movicol in him tomorrow.
I'm mixing with apple squash because he won't drink them in just water.

Unfortunately disimpaction using Movicol didn't work for my daughter and she had to have an enema in hospital

Are you mixing it with water first and then adding it to the juice? The powder needs to combine with the water molecules to work properly

Yes, in water and then adding apple juice for taste
