My dd 2.8 always seems to get a constant non stop cough anytime she gets a cold - which is pretty much all of the time due to her being in day care. We ended up in A&E again last weekend as she was struggling to breathe. She was given an oral steroid and nebulised to get her breathing under control. The oral steroid had a massive impact on her mood almost immediately (which has happened before in the past and I was fully expecting it) but she has been prescribed a brown preventative inhaler to take 2 puffs twice daily. She already had a blue inhaler for as needed. She has been taking the brown inhaler for 8 days now but we have noticed a dramatic negative change to her behaviour and she just hasn’t been herself at all- lots of screaming, crying, shouting, being aggressive and just very angry. I know she is a toddler and this could all easily be described as standard toddler behaviour but the change has been very sudden and started as soon as we started her on this inhaler. Everything I’ve read seems to suggest that as it’s an inhaler the steroids are localised to her lungs and would be unlikely to cause these side effects but just reaching out incase any other parents have had any similar side effects with their kids on a brown inhaler? I miss my happy little girl 😞
