My DS (13 months) has had a cough for almost 6 weeks now. Seen 2 doctors who have said it was a viral infection at 3 and 4 weeks into the cough. But it just doesn't seem to be getting any better!! Tried calpol, piriton, vicks, damp towel in tbe room, raising mattress up, nothing seems to help. He'll have coughing epsiodes in the night where he just wont settle for ages and also wakes himself up with th.e cough. Surely a 13 month old with a cough lasting this long isnt viral, AIBU? Maybe I'm just very sleep deprived and looking for reassurance but in anyone elses experience is this normal? Should I push for another appointment? Any advice is great 🙏

Has he been assessed for asthma? Night time coughing can indicate proximity to dustmites which can be an asthma trigger.

@Onceuponawhileago No nothing mentioned about asthma when we saw the doctor, they just said it was a viral cough and it'd go eventually. Allergy testing was mentioned but she said probably nothing would come of it because he's so young, so frustrating 🤔
