Eczema, bronchiolitis, croup link to asthma?

Hi, my 11 month old is currently having croup. A few months ago he had bronchiolitis. It wasn’t too bad, cough for a few days, wheezing for about 2 weeks, vomiting for a day. He also has atopic eczema from when he was 4 months old. Eczema clears up in summer, but comes back with cooler weather. It’s now behind his knees and below the neck. Neither of us have eczema or asthma running in families.

I wanted to see what are others experiences with possible link of this to asthma later in life?

My kids had repeated bouts of croup, quite bad eczema and one had bronchiolitis. Neither of them gave asthma. They do both get bouts of eczema in adulthood though.

A GP once told me that eczema, hay fever and asthma are quite closely linked….if you get one you’re likely to get another. Not sure about the others or how true it is!

Maybe due to the weather you need to increase or start using some aveeno moisturiser?

Not sure about link to asthma

All linked to histamine weirdly there is also a link to endometriosis in women as well, these are all autoimmune conditions, so he's busy building that up.

People who have eczema and food allergies are more likely to have asthma, so there is definitely some sort of autoimmune disease. DS is 18 months and he has food allergies and had some mild eczema when he was little. His dad also had asthma.

He had bronchiolitis several times when he was younger, and now suffers from a wheeze when he develops a cough. Those episodes, tied in with his food allergies and eczema does suggest there is some link.

Thanks for messages folks. From what I am reading around, it sounds like two separate links to asthma - eczema and food allergies on one side, and bronchiolitis and croup on the other side. They could both lead to asthma, but they sound like separate things. And then it’s different for every child again.
I could be wrong, will have a chat with GP about this too. We can only wait and hope for the best I guess. All experiences are welcome
