My daughter is a lesbian is it right to let her be with her gf at 15

My daughter of 15 is a lesbian and only just came out a few months ago but has had a girlfriend for over a year but never told us as she used to come and stay which we thought she was only a friend

She is wanting to see her more but I do not agree with them sleeping in the same bed, male or female she is still a child in my eyes, so wont allow this at my house but she is wanting to go to her house instead

Just so unsure what to do if i don't support it now she will soon go do it anyway

This is a tricky one. 16 is the legal age of consent and I didn't allow my dds to have partners sleep over until this age. However, one of mine had a friend over (same sex) at 14 loads. Then found out they were together. The gf then came out trans.

This may be sexist/unfair whatever, but for me the risk of STIs and pregnancy was also the most concerning. Therefore female to female (bio sex) I have always seen as less of an issue.

I think, on balance, the most important thing is to convey the message that the age of consent is 16- but accept they will do it anyway. Sounds confusing I know.

I think the choice is either say yes to them sleeping in same bed or make them wait until 16.

If you're not comfortable with them sleeping in the same bed ask her parents what the sleeping arrangements are at their house. If they're happy for her to sleep in the same bed then no, you don't let her go.

But ultimately sleeping in the same bed doesn't necessarily mean anything else will happen, and anything that's going to happen will happen whether they have sleepovers or not.
