Forehead 37c, cheeks 40c

16mo was sent home from nursery with a temp. We have one of those infrared thermometers, where you point it at the forehead and press a button to get the reading.

DS just woke up crying. He has red checks, which feel on fire.

I took his temp by his forehead and that's 37c so normal. I took his temp by his cheeks and that's high at 40c. I have given him some calpol.

Would teething cause that? I'm a FTM so worried I'm missing something.
