Hi everyone

Currently feeling like the worlds shi**iesit mum.

My 10 Month old had been diagnosed with a uti today. She's been unwell with fever on and off, not sleeping at night & not really herself for 2 weeks maybe. I just put it down to teething.

This morning after taking her to a&e they discovered she has a uti and referred to it as "quite bad" I am so stupid I didn't even ask what does quite bad mean as suppose to a normal uti ..

Has anyone got any ideas? Not sure I can call a&e now to ask for more details as we're home already with antibiotics

Hi! I know this was a few days ago and hopefully you've found the answers. I had similar when my daughter was 4 months old. She wasn't drinking much, bit of a fever and just a bit off. Took to the GP mainly because I kept thinking she'd pooped only to find a wet nappy.
She was prescribed amoxicillin for 3 days and the wee was sent off. When the results came back she was switched to a 7 day course of cef as it was amoxicillin resistant.
We also got the "it's quite a bad UTI" diagnosis and I worried too.
Ultimately when, as adults, we have a UTI, there's the ones where some bugs grow but it's very early on and isn't so bad at all. Then there's the ones where bug's grow quickly and its a fairly severe infection. I sort of assumed that was the case.
Please please please do not feel bad. You got little one seen, treated and all will be absolutely fine. There's nothing more you can do. They come down with so much and realistically the symptoms of a UTI (irritability, bad sleep, off milk/food etc) are the same as teething.
You got her seen and checked out at the right time and nothing bad came of it. Hope she's picked up now!
