My DD(12) has a chronic health condition that can flare & is a bit unpredictable with its effects. She's having a particularly tough couple of years & school attendance was only 45% last year. Would've been similar previous couple of years except home schooling worked in our favour.
We're extremely fortunate that we can afford to send her to private school, state just couldn't manage her needs properly, it's also less stressful for us. But because of her attendance I'm doing a lot of school work with her to help keep up, there are various additional things I need to do for her etc. I can't work due to the unpredictable nature of the condition.
Ultimately my question is other than the obvious financial payment are there any other reasons or benefits in applying for DLA. We're not struggling financially so I don't really want to take funding away from someone else that needs it. Equally I don't want to disadvantage my DD or myself, now or in the future, by not applying
Any advice or resources appreciated
