Broken collarbone

My 11 year old broke his collarbone and damaged ligaments a week ago. He is still in a good bit of pain is now saying his wee finger has pins and needles and still badly bruised and still struggling to put a top on the hospital said it was the worst one they had seen and they aren't sure if it will heal itself. His school doesn't want him back until he is reviewed at the fracture clinic which is next Friday but the letter didn't come from the fractures clinic it came from an orthopaedic surgeon should I be worried about this.

The tingling could be because it hurts to move so he's keeping too still. If he's been given exercises to do it's really important to do them, to keep circulation going and to keep the muscles from atrophying. He may also be over compensating using other muscles more which can by itself cause pain like if you take up a new exercise.

Did the fracture clinic give you a contact number to use if you have any follow up concerns?

DD broke hers when she was about 4 and she was miserable for about a week with it if I recall correctly, but we did keep her well loaded up on painkillers.
