DD 7 cold sore - any suggestions

My DD had what looks like a cold sore in the nostril, and says there is another further up.
She now seems to be developing one on her lip too.
Any suggestions for what I can do for her? Are things like zovirax ok to use on children?
I don't get them myself so not aware of treatments. Will go to pharmacy later, but hoping for some MN wisdom.

Hmm... up a nostril? Are you sure it's not impetigo possibly? Hopefully you have been to the pharmacy - if not, be sure to take her with you.

If it is a cold sore, apart from whatever cream you can get I would look into whether you can give her lysine at that age. It's a protein and for whatever reason it reduces the severity of a break out.
