Is it chickenpox (and if not what is it?)

Has anyone had a child with a mild case of chickenpox? On Monday night we found 5 or 6 little red raised spots on my 3yo son’s arms and legs. By Tuesday morning (when this photo was taken) there were about 10 spots but it’s now Wednesday night and no more have appeared. The original spots aren’t looking that scabby yet either. He has a slight temperature this evening but he’s basically been full of beans all week, and I’ve got this niggling feeling that I’m keeping him off nursery for no reason! But if it’s not chicken pox then what else could it be? I sent some photos to the GP surgery and a nurse called me back to say she couldn’t really tell but it’s probably chickenpox because ‘it’s doing the rounds’. Obviously I’ll be delighted if she’s right and we’ve got off this lightly! Just wondering if these symptoms (or lack of symptoms!) ring any bells with anyone?

This is exactly how my son was, I treated it as chicken pox and isolated etc but it was so mild but they didn't overly itch him. They did eventually yellow and scab but it was all very mild

I’d say Molluscum contagiosum

chicken pox tends to start on the tummy and back and work outwards to the arms and legs

Whereabouts are the spots? Could it be hand foot and mouth? It's often difficult to tell the difference between the two

Thanks all! He had hand foot and mouth when he was a baby (I had it at the same time, it was awful!) so I don't think it's that. I hadn't heard of molluscum but I've just googled it and it could definitely be that... I guess I'll just give it a few more days and see if they start scabbing over...

Doesn’t look like hand foot and mouth.

With a temp it could be chicken pox- literally time will tell- fingers x mild whatever it turns out to be.

DS ( probably) had it this mild when he was around 6 months, but then got it again a year later.
