Bad Concussion - help!

Hi there, my son (13) had a bad knock to his head at school. He's been off for over a week but still really poorly with barely a sign of improvement. He has been checked at A&E and I have spoken to the GP twice (they wouldn't see him) and he's also seen the school nurse.

He's still extremely tired and confused, he gets muddled up very quickly and had difficulty walking to A&E - literally down the end of our road.

One thing which is good news, the first few days he could barely eat, but now he is back to his usual 17 portions of dinner a day (!)

Is this normal? I would expect him to back to his usual self quite quickly but he's barely making progress which is really worrying me. Any help or experience with head trauma, and any advice on what I should do to help him would be great, many thanks

Back to A&E and INSIST on CT of head. Do not leave without one. Kick up a fuss if necessary!

Echo CT scan. Stand your ground. Take him to A&E.

I work in A&E and I would take your sons symptoms very seriously. If it’s been a week and things are not improving (co-ordination, ?headaches, brain fog etc) I would have him scanned to check for possible bleeds / clots etc. Yes head injuries can take time to heal but I would say that if his symptoms are persistent and not improving, he needs to be re-checked

Thanks so much for the advice. I'll definitely that
