So if you read my previous post I’ve had a right mare of a time with my babygirls acid reflux
my baby is 6 months old and she was 9 weeks prem so just under 4 months corrected.
For the first 9 weeks I expressed every 3 hours and my baby drank from the bottle fine with some fortifier powder added in for extra cals a few spit ups but nothing I couldn’t handle.
Babygirl would never latch, she only did fully 2 times and it was so painful I had to put my finger in her mouth to pull her off me. I never thought anything of it and just thought she was too tiny to latch I tried until she was full term and then I gave up and put my little girl onto formula as she was drinking every hour and I couldn’t keep up with her through pumping.
when we went onto formula her reflux got worse, I battled for months to get gaviscon and a high dose of Omeprazole we’ve tried all sorts of formulas and looked into allergies.
5 weeks ago my baby started refusing the bottle, I’ve been to A&E countless of times, I’ve been to the GP who both say they can’t do anything unless baby gets dehydrated or loses weight. HV came out and said I was too stressed and causing baby to refuse the bottle she even starts screaming as soon as I put a bib on her.
some days it’s taken 2 hours for one bottle! My little girl was born on the 2nd percentile and went upto 9th she is now back down on 2nd and has dropped below that 2 times but because she’s on the 2nd and hasn’t lost weight no one will take me seriously.
observing my little girl with the bottle she started making a clicking noise and it seems like she doesn’t know what to do with her tongue so I sent some pictures to a lactation consultant who said she has a tongue tie and we are booked in tomorrow to get it sorted.
I didn’t think this is something that would cause so many problems for a bottle fed baby and so long down the line? Has anyone had similar experiences????
