20 WEEK ANOMALY SCAN - PLEASE HELP

PLEASE READ

Hi everyone,

I have just had my 20 week anomaly scan and the sonographer has made a referral for me to attend an appointment at St George's Hospital to have a re-scan done by a cardiologist as the sonographer has reported that my baby's aorta is slightly enlarged.

Has anyone else had any experience with this? What should I be preparing myself for? 😢😢

If you are on Facebook, this group is very knowledgeable www.facebook.com/groups/108795909224199

Sorry you are going through this worry. My daughter has a congenital heart defect but not the one your baby may have.

Go to your appointment at St George's and see what is found. Try not to panic too much until you have the facts. My daughter had 2 holes in her heart which were undiagnosed until birth (she has Down syndrome, also diagnosed postnatally, so the heart was checked a few days after birth). One of the holes closed itself, the other was very large and required surgery. I now have the most amazing healthiest, happiest little girl. The cardiologists are amazing in what they can do. Sorry for what you are going through, there are lots of groups on Facebook you can get information on once you have spoken to cardiology.

That's good you don't have long to wait, I hope all goes well for you and that restrictions have lifted a bit so you can have some support at the appointment

I'm sorry that I have nothing constructive to say other than I'm sorry that you've been given this worry and I'm sending all good wishes to you.
