So my DS had a fever last Wednesday afternoon till Friday evening, it went up to 39.9, came down with neurofen. He had no other symptoms of illness apart from a bit more sleepy.

He was checked over by GP, and no signs of UTI / chest / ear infection.

Hes been a little more tired over weekend and a little off food, but drinking plenty and today he’s being sick.
His temp is normal.

is this just a weird bug?

Yes. Probably just a virus. As long as his temp is stable, he's eating and drinking just keep an eye on him and it will run its course

@mac1974 His temperature has been ‘normal’ since Saturday with no calpol or ibropfren…. But the sickness?

Is it not odd that it’s started 2/3 days after the fever stopped.

😟

I've heard of some pretty awful bugs going round recently to be honest that have been lasting over a week for kids. If you're still concerned you'd be best to get him checked over again by the GP.

My 2yo often does this kind of thing. I'm not sure if it's drawn out bugs/viruses or if he gets things back to back so it seems like the same thing! Very annoying though when you think you're out of the woods and then the next/new symptoms appear.

VladsPants · 22/08/2022 13:25

The fever was his body trying to kill off the sickness bug I expect, but that didn’t work so now he’s got the actual illness.

Hope he feels better soon.

@mac1974 Thankyou for your replies.
i might see how he goes and phone GP if I think we need it. :)

@Mymoneydontjigglejiggle he’s not often ill so when he is it’s a complete worry! Fever scared me enough.

@VladsPants that’s a good point! Maybe it’s that, sometimes it’s hard to think straight about your own child’s health!
