Toddler with high temp for 10 days

My 2 year old has had a fever on and off since 30 July. He’s been off his food but has been eating and drinking okay. I took him to the GP Friday who took a urine sample and said “slight urine infection” and gave him antibiotics. These finished yesterday and this evening he has a high temp again.
he’s been irritable for the last 10 days, some loose stools (but he has allergies) and diarrhoea on Saturday (which could be antibiotics).
12 days ago he also spent 3 days with a child who, on the 3rd say, came out in chicken pox.
i have health anxiety and really always think the worst when my children are I’ll, so am currently awake at night panicking he has cancer (all the cancer websites list a recurring fever as a symptom).
can anyone reassure me with a similar experience? Going to take him back to the GP tomorrow!

DD recently had a fever for 6 weeks - after multiple GP appointments, blood tests, specialists, a hospital admission and an A&E trip to try and find the cause they couldn’t. It just resolved all of a sudden one day and she’s been fine since. The only thing that did come back positive was her covid PCR (although no other covid symptoms) so they think it was some sort of post-viral reaction

Did they say what it was? I’m terrified it’s something serious like cancer!

@BA36 No way to know for sure what it was as all 5 of her blood tests over the 6 weeks were completely normal. The only other thing that came back positive was her mononucleosis (glandular fever) test so that paired with the covid made them think it was just a post-viral thing. Bizarre though as she never had any other symptoms, just the fever!

Even when they began to test her for the rarer conditions that could have been causing it cancer never came into the picture whatsoever so I would try not to worry about it from that perspective x

Thank you for the reassurance. His bloods are normal bar high CRP, he’s got swollen glands in his neck so they are saying infection but he’s now been in hospital and had 3 days of IV antibiotics, left for one day and he spiked a temperature so now back in for 3 more days.. I think it could be a combination of viral and bacterial, I’ve just got myself worked up that cancer is hiding somewhere! Despite numerous reassurances that they don’t think it is
