Hole in tooth

Hi all, my little one complained of a funny feeling in one of her back teeth a few months back, I thought I saw a tiny strawberry seed in her tooth got her to brush them and it hadn't gone so must be a small hole- called round some dentists and put on waiting lists. Anyway, tonight she's saying it really hurts and the hole has got quite a bit bigger! She's 5, and only seen a dentist on parents laps pre covid. I'm actually really scared they're going to judge me, but what can they do to a baby tooth, do they take them out or fill them? Will any dentist that were not registered at see a child who's in discomfort because I'm still waiting to have two bad teeth looked at, which is taking months and months. Thanks x

Just seen this. These things happen. My last dentist said that there is a certain amount of luck involved with teeth as with anything to do with health. All we can do is to look after them as best we can. Some teeth are softer than others, some have deeper grooves than others, which makes it easier for food to stick in them and harder to get every remnant out. The only judgement a dentist will have is that you have tried your best with your daughter but she has a little problem and you have sensibly come for help. I would imagine that a filling is the most likely treatment.

Oh, and I hope you will soon be able to have your teeth sorted.

We don't like taking baby teeth out. Sometimes we don't even drill we just use a special tool to get the caries out. We always aim to fill the tooth. Taking them out can cause other issues later on.
