2 year old high temp for days

Hi all, first time posting and just looking for some advice. My 2yo dd started with a cold around 11 days ago, full on snotbox but otherwise relatively happy. However for the past 5-6 days she has had a high temp, highest is 40, it comes down with calpol and nurofen alternating but still sits around 37, she feels very clammy to the touch and is a bit sweaty, especially with hair that sits past her neck and when sleeping (never usually so sweaty) I spoke to a doctor on the phone (not one from our surgery) on Monday who said possibly she has an ear infection and prescribed her amoxicillin antibiotics which she started taking on Monday evening, I’m a bit concerned as nobody has seen her and I’m worried as her temp has been high for what I feel is a lot longer than normal. Has anybody else’s child had a temp for this long? Any advice would be appreciated as I’m very worried - especially about the sweating etc as it’s so unusual for her.

If you phoned 111 for advice they would advise that you take her to A and E. A temp for that long in a small child needs further investigation and Dr's do not mind seeing a child. If it were my child I would be going to get her checked out.

Did they do a urine sample, when my DD had a temp that long it turned out she had a UTI (she also had a cold so it got missed at first)? She did also have a temp for ages with Covid, might be worth a LFT if you can get her to do one. Either way if the antibiotics aren't working I'd be taking her back to the doctor.

Sorry also did your daughter have any other symptoms with a uti or just a temp?

She was a bit sniffly and coughing but think she also had a cold. She never actually said it hurt to go to the toilet but was very reluctant to do a sample.
