Baby MRI results - how long?

My 6 month old has just had an urgent MRI done for possible seizures. Thankfully, an earlier EEG came back clear but I'm still going mad with worry. We've been told to wait 1-2 weeks for the results but that anything urgent would have been flagged pretty much straight away. But what about something serious but not life threatening? If I haven't heard anything in 24-48 hours, can I make any assumptions about the outcome of the scan?

I know this is all a bit pointless and that no one can give me the information I really want, but any expertise or experience would be so appreciated.

If it was urgent or concerning they'd have called you by now. However, some concerning results can wait the 1-2 weeks so not having a call now doesn't mean they haven't found anything, it just means you're alright to wait, nothing to worry about right now they'll be working on a plan of action x

Thank you @Carrieonmywaywardsun there's a sliding scale in my mind of issues they might pick up. Naive, I'm sure, but if I can dismiss the really scary stuff that'll be something!

My 3 month old has seizures and frequent EEGs. Usually if nothing shows on the EEG then all is well. When my DS has had MRIs we get told the results within the next couple of days.

Hopefully you get the results soon and I hope all is well🤞

It's definitely not an emergency, unless there was a massive error they would've contacted you now. That doesn't mean it's not severe, but it means you have time. The really scary stuff is usually obvious so they would've picked up on it and called you by now. You may get a call in a few days or the full 2 weeks but after 48 hours you can try to relax

@pedropony76 I'm sorry that you've had to go through all of this so many times before, I can't imagine. Wishing you and your DS all the best.

Still no call, so I think my worst fears have been put to bed now. Fingers crossed the scan is clear and all is well.

It’s awful! We spent 6 weeks in NICU so it’s become our new normal unfortunately.

Yeah if you haven’t been called or notified to come in or anything then I’d think everything’s okay! Hope your bubba is well in themselves x

OP my daughter had a urgent MRI scan for a possible infection back in April. She had the scan at 2pm and we had the results back and had started antibiotics for a very nasty infection by 6pm the same evening. She has since has more check up scans and we haven’t had the results for weeks because things were looking good. We were told no news was good news for these sort of scans. Hopefully you get a result quickly, we are still waiting for my daughter last scan results from last week but as we haven’t heard we think she is in the clear!
