Does this look like chickenpox?

DS (nearly 4) started with fever on saturday and last night I noticed these spots on his leg. They dont look exactly how I imagined chickenpox, but it has been rife in his preschool the last few months. No more have appeared since last night. Does it look like chickenpox?

Have the spots blistered? They should blister in about 24hr of appearing I believe.

They don't look like they've blistered? In which case keep an eye. Chickenpox usually blisters.

I’m not sure if that is chicken pox, looks like it could be insect bites

Chicken pox usually (but not always) starts on the back, chest or tummy so the leg would be unusual. It also blisters within around 24hrs so if it hasn't blistered yet, it's probably not chicken pox.

Thanks for your replies. We went to the doctors in the end yesterday as DS went downhill. They confirmed not chicken pox and thankfully not looking like something more sinister. Just an odd selection of spots seemingly, not itchy like bites either. Will keep an eye on them, and hopefully DS will pick up a bit today.
