9 year old boy ill every two weeks or so

My son has been badly ill every fortnight or so for the last two months. Each time it’s vomiting, fever, head ache and lasts 48 hours. This is the 6th bout.

my husband reckons it’s dehydration. Our son is obsessed with football and plays and runs constantly. I give him water all the time and he wears a hat. I can’t believe this is dehydration, but my husband reckons it’s normal for young boys to get I’ll like this after sport.

have others experienced similar?

Have you measured the amount of water he is drinking during the day?

He could be extremely sensitive to the sun and/or heat. I am and if I have too much of them I am sick.

Not just water, but making sure he is keeping his electrolyte levels up. Maybe add in a gatorade or better yet electrolytes from the pharmacy (less sugar). Read up on low sodium etc. Good luck hope you get it sorted.

Consult a doctor as it could be symptoms of something other than dehydration. Do keep track of how much he is drinking though - is he actually finishing the drinks he's given for instance?

Could it be migraine related? Kids can get migraines that affect their stomachs.
