Do we think this will heal by itself?

I'm normally all for leaving wounds to air and heal in their own time. BUT DS did this today swimming in open water (an official venue with lifeguards etc dont judge me) Its had a good wipe over with an antiseptic wipe and a plaster on since 10 this morning but shows no sign of knitting together. He goes swim training every evening for 2 or 3 hours so really need it healed ASAP.

It doesn't look deep so I'd have thought it'll be fine. Just keep an eye out for signs of infection.

Get some steri-strips from boots (or any chemist I guess!). You can bring that together yourself as long as you’re sure it’s clean.

CombatBarbie · 17/07/2022 16:37

Have you got any steristrips to help it knit quicker?

LizzieSiddal · 17/07/2022 16:38

Can you get some of those steri strips? They will help it knit together.

I’d stick some steristrips on that, should be fine

Hellocatshome · 17/07/2022 16:42

So steri strips seems to be the way to go, thanks all.

@Hellocatshome it looks like you're actually putting pressure on the wound and pulling the skin apart in that picture... don't do that as it'll cause tissue damage and will make the wound deeper which would be an infection risk... make sure it's rinsed out and completely clean before applying a steri strip...

Hellocatshome · 17/07/2022 17:15

@CadburyCrunchy ah maybe, not intentionally I was trying to uncurl his toe and make sure I could get at it properly to make sure it was clean. Its all cleaned and got a plaster on for now so I won't be fiddling with it anymore. If it hasn't started knitting together overnight I will get some steri strips. Everywhere is closed now.
