Chronic cough in DD

Hello,
I'm just wondering has anyone else had experience of their little one having an acute cough that appears almost monthly, along with blocked nose, itchy eyes. DD has had this cycle for almost two years now, alternating between tonsillitis too. Docs can't find any root cause other then suggesting to get her tonsils and possibly adenoids removed to prevent more tonsillitis. We are considering this but just wondering if this would also help the cough or if there is something else underlying that is causing the cough. Something it seems to come from her stomach and she could be sleeping peacefully only to burst into a coughing fit about 3 in the morning. Any advice welcome, thanks

I should add that the coughing will linger for about a week, then go returning maybe 4-6weeks later...she has had croup and has had steroids before to help with the cough

could it be reflux?

Or an allergy?

Has she had a chest scan? I would push for her to be referred to a specialist after so long.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, one or two of them I have looked at vaguely but I'm going to start properly looking into. We've been trying homeopathy lately and it seems to be helping but not completely eliminating.

Homeopathy is not a thing ffs! Stop wasting your money and get a referral to a respiratory doctor!
